Community Engagement
Over the the past year we have continued to strengthen our links with the community by hosting a number of events at at school as as well as as representing The Downs at at external events Our weekly playgroup Hoot has continued to be a a a a a great success and we have enjoyed meeting many new families every Friday morning In March we opened up our Pre-Prep to to over 100 local families who came along to to enjoy our Easter Easter Adventures morning During the Easter Easter holidays 10 staff attended ‘Countrytastic’ engaging with members of of the public and offering face-painting sphero-robotics challenges and a a a a a a a variety of animal-themed activities Alumni
We have enjoyed welcoming many Old Downians back to The Downs Malvern over the past academic year some of whom have not been back for more than 60 years! Whether dropping by to collect younger siblings or simply walking on the Malvern Hills and deciding to take an an impromptu trip down Memory Lane/Brockhill Road it has been a a a a a real pleasure to to hear their their stories and fond memories of their their time here We hope to strengthen our bond with all Old Downians wishing to to keep in in touch so if you you have any news that you you would like shared in in our Alumni
section in in the publication of The Badger do let us know Please follow the Downian Society Facebook Page to to keep up to to date with their news as as well as as The Downs Malvern social media sites for current school news and events In June in in in support of the LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) Open Farm Farm Sunday event we opened our small holding to members of the the public who came in in their droves to feed the pigs and sheep complete a a a a nature trail on Brock Meadow and take part in some Forest School-themed fun The following weekend we we exhibited at the Royal Three Counties Show It was fantastic to promote our wonderful school once again and we we were delighted to be involved in in in a a Q&A session in in in the Future of Farming Tent with Countryfile’s Adam Henson and JB Gill!
