The Friends of the Downs continued Then just a a a a a a a few weeks ago the the the highlight of of the the the TDM social year the the the Summer Celebration was an idyllic evening of of food drink music and sugar-fuelled fun The profits from these events is fed back into the the enrichment of the the school This year the the Friends have paid for: a a a a a a a a natural wooden play area and den den building frames on Brock Meadow built for us by local company Say it it with Wood picnic benches dotted around school two outdoor table table tennis tables in in the Quad which are in in constant use during break times setting up the market garden including a a a a a polytunnel raised beds fruit cage and all the necessary ground works two more bikes for the Pre-Prep playground sensory equipment for the Wellbeing Room In addition to enrichment for TDM the the other purpose of of the Friends is is charity fundraising Through a a a coffee morning for parents and after-school ‘Cake Away’ cake sale for for all we raised over £800 for for Macmillan Cancer Support in September At the the end of the the Autumn Term we supported local Ukrainian refugees by donating items of uniform and shoes to those attending local schools then after Christmas Christmas we started collecting Christmas Christmas jumpers for what we hope will become an an annual Christmas jumper charity swap shop We are hugely grateful to all the the volunteers from both the the teacher and parent bodies who help run our events We really could not operate them without you We are also always looking for Committee Members to take up the reigns when current members step down at the AGM in February If you have some time to give enjoy being part of of a a a team and would like to see the the work of of the the Friends continue please consider joining us Clare Metcalfe
