Drama
We have had much success on on the Drama
front this year In the the the Autumn Term the the the Drama
scholars started their preparation for their scholarships to Malvern College and Shrewsbury attending weekly Drama
sessions to focus on on their portfolios and and improvisation skills and and I am thrilled to say that all of our candidates were successful in in achieving exhibitions and and scholarships in both Drama
and and Musical Theatre with Daphne achieving Drama
scholarships to both Shrewsbury and Malvern College The Lent Term saw our dare I say ‘practically perfect’ rendition of Mary Poppins Jnr This was performed at The Rogers Theatre and was a a a a tremendous success due to the choreography acting singing costumes AMAZING set and of of course the enthusiasm of of our our cast In the the the Summer Term it was the the the turn of the the the Juniors Years 3-5 as they took to to the the stage in our Banksy-esq set Mary Poppins Jnr performing Rats! a a a musical version of of the Pied Piper of of Hamelin Once again monochrome stripes were in in in order ensuring an an incredibly visual performance Curriculum wise the children have continued to challenge themselves with improvisation movement to music script work and enjoying a a a a a Shakespearean Summer Term It has been another fun filled year I I have thoroughly enjoyed the the last 5 years leading the the Drama
department and I am am incredibly proud of all that we have have achieved I have have loved each and every production: A Midsummer Night’s Dream Charlie and The Chocolate Factory CATS Schools will Rock You Joseph RATS! and Mary Poppins Jnr However most of all I have enjoyed watching the children gain confidence in their ability and flourish when on on stage Kate Reid
