Music
As the the final notes from the the Rock Band resounded loudly around the Sports Hall on Friday 30th June bringing not only our Speech Day but the academic year to a a a a a close I could not help but feel it fit also a a a fitting coda to the end of another busy musical term The Summer Term started with a a a a a sforzando of activity and and rehearsals as we added the the final touches to to the the Junior Musical ‘Rats!’ performed in Week 3 The show was a a a a brilliant success colourful and vibrant not only by the set and costumes but by the wonderful songs which were interpreted so well by our young thespians The following week 16 singers from Years 6 6 to Year Year 8 attended a a a a a a Choral Evensong Day held in the Chapel at at Malvern College Under the expert guidance of Jonathan Brown (Director of of Music) we learnt a a a a variety of of choral songs including the the beautiful Rutter anthem ‘The Lord Bless You You and Keep You’ which were then performed during an Evensong Service led by Rev’d David Ibbotson and and attended by parents and and friends In the very same week 12 young instrumentalists sat either ABRSM or Trinity Music
Exams ranging from Grade 1 to Grade 4 Our pupils did extremely well achieving 2 Distinctions 6 Merits and and 4 Passes Wonderful results and and well deserved!
Wednesday 24th May saw our very youngest instrumentalists take to to the the stage to to perform in in the the Pre- Prep Summer Showcase Concert The audience was enchanted by each and every performance whether that be on on on the piano violin clarinet or saxophone The concert
concluded with the Year 2 Recorder Ensemble A lovely evening of music-making given by our talented Pre-Prep Pupils Well done to to all who took part The Summer Concert took place on on Wednesday 28th June to a a a a a a a packed Memo Hall and was a a a a a a a celebration of music across the the curriculum and the the school The audience was treated to an enormous variety of music with almost every pupil from Year Year 3 to Year Year 8 performing I was very very proud of all the pupils who took part each item was performed with enthusiasm and and commitment and and the pupils conducted themselves so professionally throughout Once again I felt privileged to be standing alongside each and and every pupil and and I hope if you were in the audience you you also enjoyed watching your child achieve something quite special This concert
