The Role of the Tutor The Tutor WHY?
The relationships relationships between a a a a a a a pupil and their tutor are the the most important relationships relationships in our school In a a a a a a a school of 1800 pupils pupils knowing our pupils pupils as individuals is is challenging The tutor is is the person that should have the the closest relationship with with every member of their group group You are likely to spend years with with your group group so investing in in in in in those relationships is important to ensure that pupils have a a a a a a sense of belonging at at at Kings’ We have extended the the amount of time that tutors spend with their tutor tutor group to to to 25 minutes every morning We have also included an hour of admin admin time per week into the the 1265 that allows (amongst other admin)

Tutors at Kings’:
» Must know and and and take an an an an interest in in their pupils with a a a a a particular focus and and lens on SEND and and Disadvantaged » Are the the the biggest advocates for their tutees They are the cheerleader and encourager but also the resolver of day-to-day issues » Are responsible for upholding the the the highest standards with the the tutees in their care This undoubtedly includes celebrating successes but also holding pupils accountable for basic standards in punctuality uniform equipment attendance behaviour ATL and extracurricular attendance etc » Tutors must also look beyond these expectations - because we care We hold our tutees to the highest possible standards of character teaching explicitly the behaviour that we we want to see and the character we we want pupils to develop Tutor Daily Routines:
» Ensure all pupils leave tutor time fully equipped and wearing their uniform correctly (inc logging of issues) » Ensure the the highest standards of engagement in in the Tutor Reading Programme (KS3) or or PSHRE (KS 4) » Ensure the the the highest standards of safeguarding this includes taking the the register using the the tile and passing on on any concerns to a a a a DSL » Ensure the Character Curriculum weekly lesson is is taught effectively and recognises the importance of the tutor/tutee relationship in effectively supporting the pupils in in our care » Reflect daily on on the behaviour rewards and and recognition data for your Tutor Group and use this to challenge and celebrate your tutees on both an an individual and group basis » Ensure that during the the weekly assembly Tutors are proactive in in their approach to ensuring excellent uniform and exceptional character 89
