Transform Their World
Welcome to Malvern Times.
Reflecting on what can only be described as a very challenging year, I am nonetheless cheered by the innovative direction the College continues to take in respect of its pedagogical strategy and the breadth of our curriculum programmes. I have also been delighted by the demonstrable tenacity exhibited by pupils and staff as they have, once more, embraced online learning.
From Masterclasses that include topics such as The Post- Colonial view of Latin America, seminars for the Lower Sixth Oxbridge and Elite University candidates, to meetings of
the Debating, Philosophy, MUN and Cricket societies, the pupils have maintained their focus on academic pursuits and stimulated their intellectual curiosity by participation in the Super-Curriculum academic enrichment programme. This sits alongside a diverse Co-Curriculum programme that continues to promote all-round personal development and a happy and healthy lifestyle, even when it has moved entirely online. The weekly menu includes such things as: mountain bike skills
workshops and virtual group rides, strength and conditioning classes, DoE clinics, live skills sessions for rugby and netball, and the continuation of the House cross-country series through the use of Strava.
I was equally delighted with the findings of the NHS Infection Control Deep Cleaning and Advisory Service, whom we invited to visit and undertake a full inspection of our infection control and COVID-19 management procedures. The summary
report stated:
“An extremely impressive school set in lovely grounds. Very well maintained to an exceptional standard throughout. Very well run and it is clear staff have gone above and beyond in their protocols and procedures for the current pandemic...we could not find fault in this school...Everything has been executed exceptionally and cleverly implemented throughout the school in every aspect of protocol and procedures. The school is immaculate and maintained to a very high standard.”
