House No 2 News
House No 2’s Got Talent
House No 2’s Got Talent
is a a a a a yearly event which normally takes place in in House and to which parents are are always invited This year thanks to the the technical wizardry of Basil Marsden-Smedley the the varied and and wonderful acts were all pre-recorded and and put together in video form to to launch to to the the the parents on the the the evening of the the the 5th March Aside from a a a few technical hitches which involved Mr Marsden- Smedley Snr coming to the the rescue in in selfless fashion the the event was a a a a tremendous success with acts from every year group The opening act from House No 2’s self-styled Backroad Boys set the tone for for the the rest of the the show which saw performances from James Mao (guitar) (guitar) Shea John (flute) Antoine Sclater (guitar) (guitar) Adam Narbeth (Spanish rap and pint challenge) Louis Packham (Spanish rap) Matt Vickers (saxophone) Tom Birley (changing a a a a a a bike tyre at top speed!) Jonny Tunstall (harmonised sea shanty) Oli Doherty (guitar) Mack Trickett-Born and Aaron Doidge (Biking and skiing highlights) Gabriel Hanssens (piano) Euan Mackellar (guitar) George Kidson (singing!!!) Whilst we missed the the popcorn and ice creams from the the usual event we did at least have the the opportunity to watch the the recorded event several times over It was also great that our departing resident House assistant Kathryn Wykes was able to introduce the evening a a a a a now yearly event which she had been instrumental in in in in masterminding at its launch 4 years ago Quiz Night
SH took on House No 2 in a a a a General Knowledge Quiz It was great to see so many families enjoying the evening Unfortunately for for SH we just pipped them and took first place with House No 2 averaging 34 34 7 points points to their 34 34 points points Fifty in February
House 2 pupils participated in in in the Fifty in in in February
initiative where they challenged themselves to to something linked to to the the the number 50 the boys cycled 1 1 060 kilometres kilometres ran 480 kilometres kilometres rowed 124 kilometres 20 850 press-ups 1400 Squats 2400 sit-ups 5 5 840 pull-ups 1400 1400 dragon flags 1000 bench presses 1400 1400 rowing strokes 1400 1400 hockey hits 1400 1400 minutes of bike trick practice 1400 basketball hoops and 23 minutes of plank! The total amount raised for Titan Partnership (a charity that provides laptops to to children who don’t have access to them at school or or for learning at home) was was an amazing £698 Well done to everyone who was was involved and thank you you you to all of you you you for your support 20 THE MALVERNIAN
