Music is for everyone The composer Sir Edward Elgar famously said “My idea is is that there is is music music in the the air music music all around us us us the world is full of it and you you simply take as as much as as you you require ” Playing or listening to music also has many significant physical and emotional benefits Academic research has proved that music releases chemicals in in the brain which improves our mood and induces pleasure and and joy as as as well as as as improving our concentration and and memory We want all of of our pupils to benefit from the power of of music We have recently completed the first phase of our investment in in Music and the College is now one of only 16 ‘All-Steinway Schools’ in the UK and one of only 160 establishments worldwide The purchase of 28 new Steinway pianos was made possible through the the generosity of of the the Tanna family and this fine collection of of instruments will benefit many generations of Malvernians to come as as well as as provide many opportunities for musical outreach into the local community 18
