The second phase involves a a a a major programme of re- development of the Music School because it can no longer meet the needs of our our our pupils our our our staff or our our our audiences Our vision is is to create a a a a Music School of the highest standard reflecting our our commitment to musical excellence and consolidating our our reputation as a a a a a a a beacon of transformative music education The Music School was originally built for a a a a a leading ‘water cure’ practitioner in in 1851 as his home and clinic which could accommodate up to 40 patients Apart from numerous small bathrooms the house also boasted a a a a a a a a compressed air chamber a a a a a a a a fossil museum a a a a a a a a library and a a a a a fernery Outside there was a a a a a bowling green to entertain his clients The use of Malvern’s natural spring water in in health treatment can be traced back centuries but its boom-time was the Victorian era: amongst those drawn to ‘the cure’ were Florence Nightingale Charles Dickens and Alfred Lord Tennyson Our plans for the the the Music School will respect the the the heritage of the the the building and transform the interior spaces into world-class facilities which will meet the requirements of of all aspects of of teaching and performing including contemporary music recording and remote learning The re-development will commence in the Summer of 2022 and take a a a a a year to complete At an estimated cost of £2 5m we are inviting support from the Malvern community to to be able to to achieve our vision If you are interested in in fin in finding out more a a copy of the Music School brochure can be found here Artists impression of the Practice Studio
