 DEVELOPMENT IMPACT REPORT
Music @ Malvern
We have ambitious plans for the provision of Music @ Malvern so that we can continue the tradition of musical excellence at the school. The College has future plans to refurbish the Music School building to provide much improved, sound-proofed practice and performance facilities for our music students, preparing them for their musical careers beyond Malvern or simply enhancing their experience of music-making at the College.
The ‘All-Steinway School’ initiative
Thanks to the generous support and visionary ambition of an anonymous donor, Malvern College is set to become one of only 16 Independent Schools in the UK to be credited with ‘All-Steinway School’ status. We are about to begin the replacement of the College’s stock of 37 pianos (including 5 grand pianos) with the finest instruments from a world-renowned manufacturer.
The association with Steinway will help establish a worldwide reputation of Malvern as a premier establishment for Music, attract talented musicians (both teachers and pupils) to the College, and provide excellent ongoing technical support and access to Steinway artists, expertise and masterclasses.
The Music School
In 2020 the Malvernian Society will grant £400,000 towards the refurbishment of the Music School, which will cost a total of £2.5 million principally to the renovation of the main concert room on the ground floor, and also to the showcase music practice room. To be a part of the project to refurbish the remaining practice rooms, please contact development@ malverncollege.org.uk or phone +44(0)1684 581 653/654 for further information.

The Chapel Organ
The beautiful, Cotswold-stone chapel sits at the heart of the College campus and inside, the chapel organ takes centre stage presiding over the space with dignity and distinction.
Unfortunately, the passage of time has taken its toll on the Willis organ, originally installed in 1899. The good intentions behind various repairs and ‘improvements’ over the years have not always had the desired effect, and sadly the resulting sound provides neither convincing accompaniment to a small chamber choir, nor adequate support to a full College chapel service; nor does it do justice to much of the wide repertoire of organ music.
We are ‘pulling out all the stops’ for this project, so if you would care to join us, please contact development@malverncollege.org.uk or phone +44(0)1684 581 653/654 for further information.
