Life in the Pre-Prep
Half Term has happily seen Reception to to Class 2 children returning to to school for lessons along with the Nursery It has been delightful to see all the children integrating into school routines again and a a a a a a a a particular pleasure to see them off the the screens and enjoying lots of of time in in our fabulous grounds at Forest School and during playtimes We have certainly made the the most of of every scrap of of nice weather and have had an an Alice in Wonderland treasure hunt around the grounds cooked wild garlic bread over a a a a a a a campfire in the woods and hunted for seasonal fungi Class 1 have had a a a a a a fascinating trip up our Clocktower bringing their Brilliant Buildings topic to to an an an an exciting and meaningful end World Book Day was a a a a a a a real highlight with all the children participating in in a a a a a Dance Workshop based on on on Alice in Wonderland Everyone made such a a a a a fabulous effort with their costumes and we enjoyed parading together as a a a a department on our way up to to lunch Reception children have have been working very hard this term They have have been doubling halving adding subtracting and even counting in in in in in in twos!! They have become independent writers writing diary entries captions lists letters and traditional stories using their knowledge of sounds and tricky words They have enjoyed forest school sessions P E drama and and swimming since returning to to school and and continue to to enjoy madame BB’s French lessons Nursery children have continued to learn French and can now confidently count count to to 10 they have been excited to to count count for their parents We We celebrated St David’s Day by cooking Welsh cakes and throughout the the term the the children have also made jam tarts assorted sandwiches dairy and and egg free chocolate cakes comic relief themed cupcakes which they decorated with icing and and a a a a a a cherry and and finally chocolate nests filled with little eggs Outdoor exploring has involved the children looking for signs of Spring including our exciting find of frog spawn Nursery 2 children were very excited when their swimming lessons resumed and we look forward to welcoming Nursery 1 children into the the pool during the the summer term Our classrooms became a a a a a a ray of colour with beautiful displays including an an Alice in in in Wonderland feature wall To complete the topic children had a a a a a a tea tasting session they decorated a a a a a a cup or or mug kindly donated by Mrs Jo Deakin and had a a a a a a trip to the Nursery cinema where they were issued with a a a a a cinema ticket and a a a a a carton of popcorn for the the showing of of Alice in in Wonderland To celebrate the the end of of term we had an Easter egg hunt The Pre-Prep
is being redecorated during the Easter holidays A team of painters are working hard and we look forward to to moving back into a a a smarter environment for the the start of the the Summer term How exciting!
