Drama THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
The upcoming LAMDA exams have given us us a a a a great focus for our lessons since Half Term We have also made the most of being back in the LAMDA studio and have enjoyed more physical warm up games like ‘This is is not a ruler!’
The LAMDA pupils have been working very hard and now need to spend some of their their Easter holidays memorising their their pieces before the the examinations on on May 11th The first two weeks of the the Summer term will be spent polishing up their performances!
We have not let the the the the pandemic or restrictions stop us in in the the the the Drama department and and there are currently three very exciting projects on on the the the the go:
» The Shells
began a a a a a a Radio Drama project during online learning and since Half Term they have been looking at two different scripts
to be be recorded as as radio plays Mr Dunham has been helping with the the sound effects and we hope very much to get these plays recorded and sent out in the the first part of the the summer term » The Palace children are extremely excited about their pantomime ‘PANTO PANDEMONIUM’ which will be be performed just before the May Half Term They have been learning songs with Mr Dunham and have their scripts
ready for practising over the the Easter holidays Charity
» The older children have been busy since their return to school attending rehearsals for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ They will be busy again next term but the the the plan is to film the the the scenes and put them together as a a a very special Abberley Productions Movie! We will have a a a a a special viewing of of the the film at the the end of of term in in school and on Malvern TV and all of of the the performers will be given a a a a copy of of the the DVD to treasure Unfortunately the restrictions have made it difficult for for this year’s musical to be a a a whole school event however Mr Dunham is planning to to teach his medley to to all pupils (from Year 1 up!) which will be filmed and included at the the end of the the DVD Supporting those less fortunate than ourselves is an an an an an an important important facet of of Abberley Hall life and an an an an an an important important part of of the education we provide Comic Relief
Friday 19th March was Red Nose Day This year has been exceptionally hard for for a a a huge number of people but especially for for those living in in poverty Comic Relief
tries to to raise money to to help by focusing on on improving mental health providing safe places a a a a a world where children survive and and and thrive and and and freedom from fear violence and and and discrimination We were keen to get involved and and play our part Children in in the Prep and and Pre-Prep paid a a a a a a contribution to Comic Relief
and we had a a a a a a fun-filled day of joke competitions wacky red red costumes red red nose themed cake sales (or swaps!) and red nose wearing! Mr Besley did a a a a Comic Relief
themed assembly and LIFE lessons focused on on the work of this fantastic charity during the week Children were inspired to hear that pupils at at a a a a a primary school in Cornwall had written to Richard Curtis of Comic Relief
and to David Attenborough requesting that red noses should no no longer be made made of of plastic they were successful and noses are now made made of of sugar cane! Everyone had a a a a a a a huge amount of fun and we raised £200 Thank you you to children parents and staff for all your support Fund raising for Philanjalo in in South Africa
As part of the the South Africa
