As in the UK, our international schools have been challenged by the pandemic with students and teachers now returning to normal as local situations in each country have allowed.
After a successful opening in September 2021, Malvern College Switzerland has enjoyed a strong first year during which it has established an international standard Ski Academy to run alongside the academic programme. Elsewhere, Malvern College Chengdu are now well established in their new campus whilst Malvern College Pre-Schools Hong Kong continue to be at the very forefront of innovation in education for early learners. Both Malvern College Egypt and Malvern College Switzerland have recently participated in events at their respective British Embassies to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubliee.
Academic results and university offers have continued to trend upwards throughout MCI schools. Particularly impressive has been the achievement of our Year 13 students at Malvern College Qingdao where 42% of applications to G5* universities resulted in offers.
**G5 is a group of UK universities which includes Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, University College London and the London School of Economics.
Celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
Malvern College International Schools have been celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style recently, participating events involving local embassies in Switzerland and Egypt to mark the occasion.
Malvern College Switzerland hosted an event at its alpine school campus attended by the Mayor of Leysin, Ms Jane Owen, the current British Ambassador to Switzerland, herself an Old Malvernian and our partner Mr George Makhviladze. The event featured the planting of a ceremonial oak tree, part of the Queen's Green Canopy initiative which aims to create a legacy in honour of the Queen’s leadership that will benefit future generations.
Meanwhile, Malvern College Egypt was invited to a birthday party event hosted by the British Embassy in Cairo and attended by our partners, Chairman Mr Khalid Azazy and Vice-Chairman Ms Lamis Azazy and the school leadership team. The British Ambassador, Mr Gareth Bayley, mentioned the College in his address which culminated in him cutting a Malvern College branded birthday cake with a ceremonial sword.
