Spanish TOK and Experiences
The teaching in in the Spanish department both supports and is is supported by TOK (Theory of Knowledge) We use the skills developed in in in TOK in in in acquiring an an additional language: students benefit from guiding questions that can connect TOK to the five themes of of the the the language B curriculum one of of them them being Experiences
So with the the the Experiences
theme in in mind we encourage the the the students to to explore and tell the the stories of the the events experiences and and journeys that shape their lives and and in the the the process the the the Spanish department provides them with new cultural events in order to develop their awareness of multiple perspectives One of these cultural events took place this month The HL set had the opportunity to learn about South American countries and their culture “Thank you to Mrs Roffey for giving us an an insight into her culture We were cooking typical Colombian food in our last Spanish lesson and made arepa with guacamole It definitely was a a a a a a a unique experience and we learnt more about the Latin American culture while also improving our Spanish vocabulary ”
