Sporting Highlights
It’s been another packed term of sport and when we consider the the whole academic year over 70% of our students have represented the College in in competitive sport in in over almost 600 fixtures - we’ve been very busy!
Tennis
This term we have had great success with our tennis programme with both the boys and girls competing to a a high level For the the girls our junior A team were unbeaten in the the Hereford and Worcester LTA competition winning their division with some fantastic tennis played by all A special mention goes to Livia Machancoses Da Gama Rose (No 8) Shaivee Dhakal (EH) Grace Li (No (No 4) Amelie Ensminger (No (No 3) who will be heading to to the the regional finals fin in September Another well done to to Chloe Wilson (No (No (No 4) 4) Mia Hawthorne (No (No (No 4) 4) Emily Sirett (No (No (No 3) Charlotte Ffooks (No 3) who have dedicated their summer term to to tennis resulting in in in very competitive matches against some tough opposition The junior boys also played some brilliant tennis taking their lead from the senior boys who have had some hard-fought matches this term Highlights
include Nikolai Ritter Von Kempski (No 2) and Tim Steger (No 2) who both played some brilliant tennis representing the senior boys in in in in in a a a a fixture against Dean Close winning all of their matches as as well as as playing for the the junior team in in various matches In the County doubles competitions Daisy Tuthill (No 4) and Susannah Watkins (No 8) finished in fin in in 2nd place in fin in in the U16 girls' competition Felix Jack (SH) and Oli Sirett (No 1) played some excellent tennis but too many unforced errors saw them narrowly losing 6-5 to the eventual winners from Bromsgrove as such finishing fin in in third place In the the Scott and Smyth Cup competitions the the County Singles competitions we saw several of our senior players taking part In the Smyth Cup Alice Sclater (No 6) got as far quarter finals but lost out in in in a a a a a a hard-fought game against the eventual winner Amelie Ensminger made it it to the the quarter finals of the the plate competition with Joanna Seemann (No (No 6) and Georgie Kenyon (No (No 4) both making it it to the the semi-finals of the the plate competition In Scott Cup Paolo Battistella (No 5) reached the quarter finals and Oli Sirett (No 1) made it it to the the semi-final of the the plate competition It has been wonderful to see so many pupils enjoying their tennis this term whether that’s taking part in in school competitive fixtures or enjoying some recreational tennis Rugby
Our rugby players continue to work hard in in the off-season and we’re delighted to to share the news that two of our own Tom Hilton (No 1) and Monty Oliver (SH) have recently been awarded EAP status (England Academy Player) This is
is
the designation given to the the players currently demonstrating the the greatest potential in in the regional academy facilitating extra one-to-one training with academy coaches medical and and nutrition staff and and are regularly monitoring by the England U18 coaches After getting capped this is
the highest accolade that can be achieved at at schoolboy level In addition Max Jefferies (SH) has been promoted from the U15 Midlands Midlands West West Academy Academy group to the Midlands Midlands West West Academy Academy U16 PDG group Only a a select number have been invited into this group recognising those who have shown outstanding potential over the the the past season season meaning they can join the the the U18s pre-season training over the summer We are are looking to be in in great shape for next season and are are extremely proud that a a a a a number of our boys are involved in in academy level rugby In the RFU West Midlands pathway we have George Skerrett (No (No 5) 5) Gus Wixey (No (No 5) 5) Tom Hilton Monty Oliver Max Jefferies Rufus Edmonds (No (No 7) George Newman (No (No 2) and George Leese (No (No 5) 5) with Fin Wilson (No (No 5) 5) continuing in in in in the Gloucester Rugby
set-up We are looking forward to to a a a a successful tour of South Africa with our senior squads and thank everyone for their support in in making this happen 34
