What is your your favourite memory from your your time at at Abberley Hall?
I I have so so many fond memories of my time at at Abberley I I attended from nursery until age 13 (1997-2008) - - so so some of my earliest memories involve playing in in in in boiler suits on the the “bank” and following the the beautiful peacocks around the the grounds After a a a a a a back injury I didn’t follow the the more traditional sporting endeavours Abberley is known for but instead ended up spending a a a a a lot of time in in in in the DT workshop learning a a a a a huge amount from some very talented (and patient) teachers it it is my fondest memory as as it it was such a a a a a a a a a a daily joy Funnily enough I made a a a a a a a a a a lot of of the the less formal signs that were were put up up around the the school - many of of which were were still up up when I I last visited In comparison my younger brother would talk of incredible trips to to South Africa for various cricket and rugby tours!
What did an Abberley education teach you?
The school is in in in a a a a a a a stunning location with incredible grounds and and facilities and and I was taught by excellent people with a a a a huge amount of of experience to offer both in in in in and beyond the the classroom Obviously these points truly sink in in in in with hindsight but what this translated to to was very happy children in in in a a a a a a a a safe environment who were learning to to be well rounded individuals ready for the the next step through the the huge variety of options available - academic musical sports practical pursuits I even remember being taught to build an outdoor fire at one point for marshmallow toasting! Two of my nephews (currently aged 2 and and 8) are now at Abberley and and hearing them speak about the the range of activities their interest in in in in in learning and and the the the the genuine outdoorsy fun they have at the the the the school is amazing and and I’m delighted that they are getting the the the same experience over 20 years after I I was in in their shoes What have you been up to since leaving Abberley?
After leaving Abberley I went onto Malvern St James followed by the University of Warwick to to read Law with Humanities Humanities - Abberley successfully instilled a a a a a a love of of Latin and mythology so the “with Humanities” part of of my my degree gave module options to to allow that interest to to continue I’ve completed my legal training and I’m now a a a a a a a a year into being a a a a a a a a a a qualified solicitor working for a a a a a a a a a a US law firm in in in in in in London specialising in in in in in in Data Privacy and Intellectual Property On a a a a a a a a a personal note I’m recently engaged and and my fiancé and and I I have a a a a a a a a a longer term plan to to return to to Worcestershire and it’s no coincidence that we intend to be be within range of Abberley (forward planning for for the education needs of our future family!) 25
