What is your your favourite memory from your your time at at Abberley Hall?

The hockey hockey and rugby tour to to South Africa is right up there We spent two weeks playing hockey hockey white water rafting and just having a a a a a a a great time with with good friends Singing Zadok the the Priest with with the the choir in in in in in Great Witley is another one Hearing it come together for the the the the first time in in in in the the the the church was a a a a body tingling moment I still remember it very clearly Mr Schellenberg was a a a genius Lastly riding around the grounds on
our weekends We We were given a a a a lot of freedom thinking about it We We used to to race each-other up clocktower bank and back across the the lower rugby pitches What did an Abberley education teach you?
School at at Abberley was a a a a a home home from home home What comes to mind for me me me me is is the strong emphasis on
on
trying your best best rather than having to be be be the the best best The effort grades for for example were a a a a a a a a a a great way of teaching us that giving things your best effort is what matters most What have you been up to since leaving Abberley?
I studied History & French at Edinburgh and was lucky enough to to spend my 3rd year abroad studying in in in Britanny and and teaching in in in Paris A few years later I decided to to change career from PR to to Sustainability and and undertook a a a a a a a a a a Masters at Imperial College in Environmental Technology This was a a a a a a a a a a game changer for me me me as as as I I I now work in in an industry that I I I am passionate about but thought I I I would never be qualified for (science was never my strong point at school as Mr Mr Tooby and Mr Mr Peel would testify) At ERM (Environmental Resource Management) we’re a a a a a a a a a a a global consultancy that specialises in in in sustainability - in in in my team I help companies develop strategies to reduce their footprint on
on
the the planet and and become more responsible socially and and environmentally The end goal is that these businesses not only reduce their negative impacts but deliver long-lasting positive value to to society and the the environment through their day-to-day operations It’s an an exciting industry to be in in in and one that is evolving rapidly 27
