Welcome to Transporter Talk 196
With apologies to Neil Hyatt who was loaded up for Member’s Motor this issue, I’ve slipped all Member’s Motors back one issue to accommodate the new Mr and Mrs Taylor who used club member Iain Macdonald’s Westy as their preferred wedding transport – congratulations!
A late thank you to John Hawthorn who came to the AGM in a car with a tent, helped to put up the marquees and gazebos then drove to the fish and chip shop to pick up nearly 60 portions of fish and chips for club members – thanks John!
Further good news is that I have myself a new little elf to start helping with both magazine and website editing. Club member Mr Andy Jones has already provided over a dozen articles and I am getting him up to speed on how to make the magazine. Don’t forget to check out the website vwt2oc.co.uk which has loads of technical articles, help, Member’s Motors (send in yours to get it in the magazine and on the website).
The Holly House weekend was a big hit with over a dozen vans in the display and then we convoyed 2 hours to Porthcawl with about 8 vans where Michelle Tatner
ran her first club camp with about 25 vans across the week from splitscreen to T6. A great job and a mammoth task – one of the days Val and I spent 5 hours preparing the food for the evening! We may have been chatting but we were very good and stayed off the gin.
October will see the team getting together in the Cotswolds to iron out the full plans for 2026 events and who is doing what. We would love to have you join us at a club event, or to suggest a location.
And in even better news, Vice Chair Phil has also picked up some support for Social Media in the shape of new member Luke Flynn. He’s also about to get further help in the shape of a new arrival for him and Sophie around October, for son Oliver to play with. Congratulations!
