MALVERN COLLEGE 2023 – RUGBY TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA
3 We have a a a a a proud tradition of touring that has become part of of the the fabric of of the the College and with take-up continuing to grow each cycle we have a a a a group of of 40-plus young men and 6 members of of staff who who can’t wait to get going and who who I am sure will be outstanding ambassadors of our shared Malvern qualities South Africa is the ideal destination for us to to tour for many reasons warm and welcoming people intense competition and the chance to experience landscapes activities and and sights that just aren’t available elsewhere in the world The cultural encounters and sporting offer experienced in in the ‘Rainbow Nation’ will I have no doubt create shared memories that we hope will stay with the group forever Rugby is like no other sport in the the way that it brings people together teaching how to to connect with people from all walks of life and building friendships that span geographies During our our 17 nights on tour we will compete in in 4 challenging match days for each of our squads undertake training sessions in in in the beautiful surroundings of our hosts pursue sightseeing opportunities and take part in a a a a a wide variety of trips and excursions - all of which will provide our pupils with unforgettable experiences The organisation of of a a a a a a tour of of this scale is is is no mean feat and I am enormously appreciative for all the support from several groups not least our parent community who have been very generous by way of sponsorship and donations Of course none of this could happen without the continual drive expertise and dedication of Nick Tisdale as as well as as our exceptional staff who take time away from their own loved ones to accompany the the trip and take care of the the pupils’ when away from home Without this team and their commitment to to the many roles required to to bring this all together we simply would not be able to to make this happen The last round of thanks goes to the host schools clubs and families for making us feel so welcome The experiences gained and the friendships forged will will last a a a a lifetime and I am sure our pupils will will cherish these memories for years to come Lee Hilton
