It is a a a a huge honour to to to for me to to to be able to to to lead and bring this Tour to fruition even more so when Covid made it look as if we might never be able to to offer this type o of tour again A Rugby Tour of this nature provides a a tremendous opportunity to to improve standards and and for pupils to to grow as as individuals and as as a a a a a a squad both on the field and more importantly off it There is no better place in in in my mind to do this than in in in South Africa where the passion for rugby is almost as as as intoxicating as as as the beautiful scenery South Africa is a a a special country offering wonderful experiences on so many levels When they refer to it as a a a ‘World in One Country’ it really underscores the variety of of experiences to be found there Tours of of this nature can be life changing experiences To play rugby with your school teammates in a a a a country as steeped in in rugby tradition as as South Africa is in in most cases a a a a a once in a lifetime experience All South Africans share an an unrivalled passion for rugby Around the Braai fires you will hear wonderful debates and conversations about schoolboy rugby from old boys who are all extremely passionate
about their school’s rugby I have been extremely fortunate to have first-hand experience of coaching
at Kingswood College who are one of our hosts on on this tour and at Michaelhouse School Some of my fondest coaching
memories are on on on rainbow nation soil especially Kingswood in in in particular being at City Lords in in in 2016 in in in front of 10 000 spectators against St Andrews and of course on Meadows at Michaelhouse vs Hilton College huge schoolboy rugby days It is my wish that Malvern boys and staff will be able to experience some of these highlights plus many more A huge thank you to our our hosts our our super supportive parents and of course our our extremely generous sponsors without you this tour would not be possible On a a more sombre note we will be saying goodbye to a a a number Upper 6th players who have given so much to the Malvern shirt over recent years Those players that have another 1 or even 2 years left at at Malvern will benefit greatly from this tour “keep raising the bar” It is my hope that you will leave with some life-lasting memories and I would like to offer a a a sincere thank you you for your contribution to Malvern College Rugby Lastly and certainly not least a a a a a a a sincere thank you a a a a a a a to my colleagues for giving up your holiday and time away from families for all of your help in in pulling this tour together and your support over the the years without you none of this would be possible Yours in Rugby Master I/C Rugby Nick Tisdale (Tis)
