After Malvern and National Service in the Royal Air Force David went to to to Cambridge University to to to read History where he he met his future wife Flora followed by a a a a a a a a a DipEd at at University College Cardiff He became a a a a a a a a a a a a schoolmaster joining the staff at at at The Haberdashers’ Aske’s at at Elstree to to teach history eventually retiring in in 1996 as as as Head of of of Sixth Form He He was made a a a a a a a Freeman of of of the City of of of London In retirement David was was Manager of of The The Abbey Theatre
– – a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a local amateur group – – for a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a number of of of years and and was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a guide at at at at The Cathedral and and Abbey Church of of St Alban He also served as a a a a a a a a a a a a volunteer at at at his local Oxfam bookshop (seeking out first editions) He had a a a a a a a a a lifelong interest and and and love of music and and and was an an an an an accomplished pianist His intelligence good humour and and and judgement marked him out as special He is is is is is survived

fter Malvern Jim trained to become an an an an accountant and worked for many years at Gibbons in in Dudley as as Company Secretary and and then at Clement Keys in in Edgbaston until his retirement He married student nurse Margaret and and they had 57 happy years together along with their their son
Alan and and and daughter Judith and their their families Jim was keen on sport from an an an early age playing rugby cricket and and football at Malvern and and squash as as as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a young man He was also a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a lifelong supporter of West Bromwich Albion and and enjoyed local history and and walking groups He was also an an an avid bridge player Jim was was a a a a a a a man man who served the community throughout his life For many years he he was was a a a a a a a a a a a a member of Sutton Round Table including a a a a a a a a a a a a year year as as Chair before becoming a a a a a a a a a a a member of the the ‘41 Club’ Later he he he joined the the Rotary Club Club in in in Edgbaston Jim was known by his his many friends for his his wry sense of humour loving jokes and puns He died on 19th February 2022 aged 83 A hroughout his life Tony had a a a a a a a great affection for Malvern Malvern College he he felt it gave him the basis for his very successful career From Malvern Malvern 123
he he studied medicine at Queens’ College Cambridge University and then Westminster Medical School London In 1972 he he he was appointed as as a a a a a a a a a a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn and and became a a a a a a a a a a a a a greatly respected surgeon who was held in in in great great affection by both the staff and and local community Through his retirement he he he continued to have a a a a a a a fulfilled life enjoying travelling and time with his family He died on 6th December 2022 aged 85
