THE MALVERNIAN
Combined Cadet Force (CCF)
“The CCF provides a a wonderful and unique opportunity to take part in in exciting military themed training activities and events all of which focus on building the cadets’ courage self-discipline respect for others integrity loyalty and commitment as well as developing effective communication skills confidence being part of a a a team with a a a a winning spirit and and a a a a sense of pride and and achievement whilst having fun and always maintaining a a a sense of humour ”
The CCF continues to grow and and thrive and and this year’s intake of new cadets and those who stay on into their senior years has been one of the best This has allowed progressive training and really empowered our Junior Non-Commissioned Officers (JNCO’s) who have had an amazing number of opportunities to instruct the the new recruits in in in the the initial skills required to be a a a a cadet building on on their own instructional and leadership abilities Part of of being a a a a cadet is the the uniform and over the the course of of two Wednesday afternoons 115 cadets were kitted out from head to toe in in in in in the latest issue Multi Terrain Pattern (MTP) clothing reinforcing the the the saying ”if you you you look the the the part part you you you will feel feel the the the part part and if if you you you feel feel the the part part you will be the the part” The first major Exercise all cadets must participate in is is Field Day This year we we were lucky enough to have been allocated Sennybridge Training Area (SENTA) in in in Wales which is is probably the the best dismounted training area in in in the the country Nearly 210 staff and cadets spent 36hrs deployed on this area with the the cadets learning new skills and the the senior cadets consolidating theirs The weather enabled everyone to to test their waterproof clothing to to the the maximum but this didn’t deter training Core skills such as shelter construction camouflage and concealment stalking surviving in in in the field and and much much much much more was was learnt and and practiced Food was was provided from the military camp nearby and brought out to hungry staff and cadets in in large containers which was gratefully received taking the the edge off hunger and the the cold With no light pollution to spoil the night training was ramped up with senior cadets conducting offensive operations in in the form of of blank firing ambushes whilst the new cadets received lessons in in movement at night sentry duties and more enabling them to own the night On return to to Malvern all cadets get to to join the the section of their choice either Royal Royal Marines Army or or Royal Royal Airforce Whilst basic training is the same for all each offers something different and it is up to to each cadet to to choose the the section that they think best suits their own aspirations 22
