National Poetry Month
In October to to celebrate National Poetry month the Malvern College English Department ran an an internal poetry competition reflecting this year’s theme: Vision There were some excellent entries revealing a a a range of interpretations on on on the the theme including perspectives on on on the environment visions of friendship thoughts on on on a (post) Covid world and and many more The winners were announced in in Chapel and and awarded leather journals to continue their writing The winner of the the the junior competition was Amelia (Milly) Boyle with the senior and overall winner being Mia Moran It would appear that poetry is alive and and well at at Malvern College and and we we look forward to celebrating our young poets again soon Mrs Sheenagh Brighton-Goedhals
Head of English A Sunflower by Mia Moran As I I open my eyes I I see the clouds all all in different shapes
and all all just by themselves I sit up and feel
all the whistling wind touching my skin softly I look around around to see colourful artistry around around me And right there the the flower flower of happiness A A sunflower smiling as as cheerful as as always Life couldn't be be happier and better And I'm in the middle of it all in in the middle of happiness itself Maybe I'm a a a sunflower
