Elephant Park
Working in in partnership with Lendlease Communities (developer) the urban regeneration of the former Heygate Estate in Elephant and Castle is a a a a a a a a major programme across 28 acres of of land in the heart of of London’s Zone 2

Overview
Elephant Park
is a a a a a a substantial residential led development providing 2
500 new homes as as part of a a a a a phased plan between 2015 and 2025 including a a a a minimum 25% affordable housing provision at each phase However the overall project includes 19 separate initiatives including mixed use tenure 50 new shops restaurants and and cafes and and the the creation of the the largest park in in London for 70 years covering 1 5 hectares The £1 2bn project required the the complete demolition of the the existing Heygate Estate a a a a a a a decaying and failing 1950’s local authority scheme in the London Borough of Southwark This involved the removal and relocation of an an established residential community of some 3 000 people set alongside significant local distrust and and public and and political opposition Lendlease and Mainstay viewed this as as an an opportunity to create positive change and tackle some of the most challenging issues facing major city developments Sustainability
Lendlease set the the creation of of a a a a a a a sustainable future at at the the heart of of their objectives This included creating parks and green spaces enhancing biodiversity in in in parks and buildings grow gardens retaining over 100 mature trees and planting 400 more cycle networks improved transport links The efficiency of each home is is maximised via a a a a a combined heat and energy centre The Hub to enable the delivery of net zero carbon heating and hot water Extended Estate Management
Provision
Mainstay manage all aspects of the two estates within Elephant and and Castle: South Gardens and and Trafalgar Place Undertaking all aspects of managing the estate infrastructure including 500 residential units affordable accommodation and the mixed tenure / commercial properties
