Boarding
Boarding has proved to be extremely popular this term and demand for places has been increasing steadily. After almost six months of children being away from school it has been wonderful to see them back with us and enjoying the experience of being fully immersed in school life. It has been wonderful to welcome Mr and Mrs Dunham as Houseparents and lovely to see their own children getting involved and becoming such a key part of the boarding house. The Dunhams had very big shoes to fill after Mr and Mrs Bennett-Tomlin but they have brought huge enthusiasm with them and it’s great to see so much energy and vibrancy. It’s no wonder that so many children are asking to start boarding!
The girls moved from Yates House to join the boys in Main House and they have settled in superbly with the assistance of Miss Ryan, the Girls’ Houseparent. Their boarding area was refurbished during the summer and they are very comfortable in their new accommodation. Demand is growing for girls’ boarding and we are now looking at making some more dorms available to them and buying more beds to cater for the growing numbers.
The boarders have enjoyed some fantastic weekends with
all sorts of events such as the recent canoeing trip to Wales and an amazing Boarders’ Disco in the Main Hall but they 6 have equally enjoyed fun and games on the boarding floors and cosy evenings together. Perhaps most popular has been
the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of the girls’ and boys’ boarding areas where they have enjoyed Nerf Wars, ‘Corridor- Cricket’, craft nights and LEGO evenings as well as birthday parties, hot chocolate evenings and film nights. Boarders look forward to finishing their busy day and returning to the welcoming and friendly atmosphere of their boarding houses
for fun and games and a chance to wind down with friends before a good nights’ sleep.
The next half of term will see lots for the boarders to look forward to including Christmas celebrations. Dorm Christmas decorating will take place over the weekend of 28th and 29th November. If you are interested in your child doing some boarding on a part-time or a full-time basis then please do get in touch as places are filling up in some year groups.
