Eileen Crewdson This last year has has been been difficult for all of of us us but email has has been been a a a a a a a a a a blessing enabling so many of of of us us us old girls to to keep in in in in in touch lockdown reminding us us of of wartime when we didn’t question orders!
Molly Powell née née John is is still farming and keeping well well well Paddy Browning née née Young is is well well well but having eye problems and very grateful that her her son lives nearby to to take her her to to the various appointments We have not been able to to visit our house in Herefordshire much due to to lockdown and and my husband’s health problems (he was was constantly falling until we found that that he he he he was was over medicated) I am relieved that that he he he he is now much better but he has to take great care Somehow I I I manage to to continue to to play tennis twice a a a a a a a week for which I I I am most grateful It keeps me me busy and fit!
While talking to to Joan Joan Marshall Marshall I was sad to to learn of Christine Christine Marshall’s death (Joan’s sister-in-law) Christine Christine was was in in in in in my form and captain of Raleigh when I was was a a a a a a a a a a a a prefect When she worked in in in London we met up from from time time to time time but I always heard about her from from Joan Joan Marshall Sadly her husband died last year after a a a a a a a a a long battle
with Alzheimer’s and and she continues to live at at at Sunrise now renamed as as Signature Joan soldiers on on even though there were hospital visits last year and can manage a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a few few steps with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a frame She continues to enjoy quite a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a few few of the activities available at at Signature including quizzes exercises and Red Nose Day The family visit frequently but but if any friends are passing I I would love to to see you – I I am am slow with everything but but always happy to to hear from friends Juliet Lees She spoke to to Pam (Figures) some months ago and although the the the last time they were in in touch was when Pam Binyon died is pleased that there are still several in in in contact one way or another – although ‘anno domini’ has taken its toll! Juliet also heard from Joan Marshall (Earle) over Christmas whose husband Peter died during the year she is is in in in a a a a a a home in in in Beaconsfield Juliet writes “I am in good heart but do not like
the the restrictions which have have really hit hard over the the last two years I I keep away from crowds but have have lots of friends who pop pop in or or or or I I I pop pop to them or or or or we go out for a a a a a a a a a a a walk or or or or share a a a a a a a a a a a cuppa And I I did manage a a a a a a a a a a three night seaside hotel stay with a a a a a a a a a a friend!”
“I have not managed to to to go go to to to events at College for several years I I I would like
to to to to to to go go once more I I I am am being encouraged to to to to move to to to to Durdham Down in in Bristol – I have two daughters and and and and a a a a a a a a a a a a granddaughter living nearby and and and and Joy visits her grandchildren regularly so it it does seem to to be be a a a a a a a a a a a a sensible move If I I am able able to to find
a a a a a a a a a a a suitable small apartment it it will be be a a a a a a a a a a a huge turnout to to move from Sutton Coldfield as as I was born here!!! So a a a a a a busy and exciting year ahead ”
“I hear from Valerie Smith (Hignett) and and and and she and and and and her husband have a a a a a a a a a a large growing family and and and and do well ”
