Godfrey entered Malvern College from Glencot School in in in Wookey Hole Somerset By the the time of his leaving the the school in in in in in 1958 he he he had served as a a a a a a a a a a a House and and and School Prefect
and and and attained both ‘O’ and and and ‘A’ levels in in in a a a a a a a a a a a variety of subjects He moved on on to Millfield School where he he he earned additional ‘A’ levels before enrolling at at the University of Toronto going on on on on to to graduate LLB in in in in in 1965 Following an an an an extended and and adventurous canoe trip on on on the the Findlay and and Peace Rivers in in in northern British Columbia (Canada) he he he entered Canada’s Foreign Foreign Service Service During his career as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Foreign Foreign Service Service Officer he he he served the the Canadian Government as as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a diplomat in in fin in the the the U U N N Costa Rica Venezuela Iran Peru the the U U S S A (in Dallas Texas) and finally Norway before retiring in fin in in in in in in 1997 to Somerset Miles
was diagnosed with early-stage dementia in in in in in 2006 and survived in in in in in declining medical circumstances under the the dedicated care of his his wife Jane Jane He is is is survived by Jane Jane his his two sons Matthew and and and and Amyas and and and and and and their respective spouses Emily and and and and and and Poppy and and and and and and grandchildren Jade Amelia and and and and Beatrice Halliwell Adrian Michael

Adrian studied law at Christ’s College Cambridge and began practising in in in in in Reading before moving back to to Cambridge to to join join Wild Hewitson and Shaw where he he he worked for for many years before joining the Crown Prosecution Service Adrian was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a passionate golfer and and and and was was Captain and and and and President of of Royal Royal Worlington GC GC a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a member of of of of Hunstanton GC GC and and and and and and the the Royal Royal and and and and and and Ancient Golf Gol Club of of of St Andrews and and and and and Captain and and and and and Secretary of of of the the OM Golfing Society He loved meeting people and and and and made many friends through golf both on his his travels and and fin in in his his local community Adrian was a a a a a a a a a a a a a regular attendee at at St St Andrew’s Andrew’s Church Stapleford Cambridge for for many years and served on on the Friends of St St Andrew’s Andrew’s Committee Whilst ill with with cancer he he continued to live life with with a a a a a a a a positive spirit and and and outlook and and and was full of praise and and and respect for his local surgery the team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital
Cambridge and the the Arthur Rank Hospice Nurses Proud of of all the the generations of of his family family he he he he he died peacefully at at home with with family family with with him as he he he he would have wished Hickman Roger

studied estate management and and subsequently joined the the family firm Jones Son and and Vernon in in the the the Black Country as a a a a a a a a a fourth-generation Chartered Auctioneer Surveyor and and and Estate Agent In the the 1970s Nigel
was President of of of of both Smethwick Smethwick and and and and Sandwell Chambers of of of of Trade and and and of of of of the Rotary Club of of of of Smethwick Smethwick Following a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a family interest in in in in in in in boating National Service was served afloat in in in in in in fishery and and anti-submarine protection and and in in in in in in some recognition of of his professional skills as A/B Seaman Jones on on on on on HMS Vidal a a a a a a a a a a a survey ship on on on on on duty in the Caribbean Nigel
was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a keen sportsman and and remained
an an an an an an active cricketer and and and hockey player throughout his adult life notably with Romsley & Hunnington CC and and Pickwick Hockey Club In his middle years Nigel
moved to to to Alfrick Worcestershire and latterly to to Cradley Herefordshire With the the the closure of the the the family firm he he he he diversified as among other things a a a a a a a a a a a a qualified groundsman with a a a a a a a a a a a a particular interest in in in cricket pitch management a a a a a a a a a a a a a bosun on on the the River Severn for Worcester City Council and an an an occasional but talented After Dinner Speaker Latterly he he was a a a a a a a a a a a a a regular supporter with his Border Terriers in in attendance at at at the New Road Ground as a a a a a a member of Worcester CCC 85
