We were so looking forward to launching Discover our exciting new Saturday Enrichment Programme Lockdown has delayed the start of this but it it is is ready and waiting for us In fact as we approach Spring even more exciting opportunities will will open up We will will be producing a a a a new programme with some slightly altered activities but for now details of the programme can be seen here Despite lockdown Saturdays
have seen the Abberley community participating in in a a a a a a a variety of ‘remote’ challenges The aim has been to to get children away from computer screens to to explore ‘the great outdoors’ and to be be creative A core part of the challenges has been encouraging families to get outdoors and active As part of this families have been submitting their cumulative total distance travelled every weekend and those who have have participated have have already travelled over halfway around the the world - wow! Other challenges have encouraged children to express themselves by creating things such as cakes taking photographs and making survival shelters As the the children are not currently onsite most of the the challenges have been linked to our year-group-specific Abberley Awards Miss Cook’s video at the the start of term advertised this to the the children and also challenged them to to beat Mr Mr and Mrs Besley – who are trying to to complete 9
the the challenges as well With so many entries from the the children we we look forward to seeing which awards the the the pupils will earn by the the the end of the the the summer term!
It has been fantastic to see so many pictures of the children participating wherever they are in in in the the world with highlights being the the ‘Big Garden Birdwatch 2021’ and the the various exciting activities children have got up to on Screen Free Saturday and Sundays We hope that you have enjoyed following the activities and entries at at home A massive well done to all those who have participated so far please do continue joining in in in in after Half Term!
