MEMBERSHIP MATTERS

Dear Members,
Stanford Hall is the start of the show & events season as far as I'm concerned. For a one day show you cannot beat it. Whilst the Club wasn't represented this year, I am aware that there were a number of members present.
The suggestion has been made that a Club pennant would be a good idea. This would help members identify themselves to others wherever they may be camped on their travels. It would certainly prevent the need for any dodgy handshakes or trouser leg lifting! We have stickers I know, and flags have been available in the past, but I do agree something relatively small that could hang on say the rear-view mirror or wing mirror when stationary might be worth considering.
May's big event as far as the Club is concerned was the AGM. This was very well attended, and all the feedback suggests it was a brilliant success. Credit to all those involved in the organisation, catering and entertainment. I don't want to name names for fear of leaving someone out, but you know who you are. Thank you on behalf of those, including myself, that thoroughly enjoyed the weekend!
Now for some sad news. At the meeting itself, Val announced her retirement from the primary role of Membership Secretary. She has been running the membership department virtually single handedly for 11 years. This has involved a significant commitment of her free time and energy to a role which can be quite demanding particularly over the summer months. Val feels the time has come to hand over the reigns, so that she can spend more time touring with Malcolm in their motorhome whilst she still has the energy.
Thankfully she is staying on for a short while whilst the two of us and Nick Gillott, our technical guru, look to introduce a suitable system to automate some of the back-office admin whilst maintaining the personal touch. We are also looking to increase the visibility of subscription renewal reminders and make payment methods clearer.
