Elephant Park
COMMUNITY CONNECTION
To nurture a a a sense of community we will run creative and cultural initiatives aimed at at all age groups These will have a a a a a a a a strong emphasis on on on wellbeing and creating a a a a a safe environment for all to enjoy promoting more pathways and opportunities for the young To ensure that community engagement is embedded from the start we will encourage a a a a steering group of stakeholders to be involved in in in in creating and developing these community events We have previously taken this approach at South Gardens in Elephant & Castle The redevelopment of the area had proved to be controversial amongst some elements of the established community To ensure that their views were considered and help embed the the the development’s residents as part of the the the area the the the steering committee included several members from the wider area We also ensured that initiatives generated by the committee would include neighbours Elephant Park
is a a a a a a substantial residential led development providing 2 500 new homes as as part of a a a a a phased plan between 2015 and 2025 Each phase has has a a a a a a a minimum of 25% affordable housing provision The overall project includes 19 separate initiatives including mixed use tenure 50 new shops restaurants and and cafes and and the the creation of a a a a a a a a 1 5-hectare park — the the largest to be created in London for 70 years CASE STUDY
