RAF got off to a a a flying (!) start this term Some lucky cadets were able to to fly the Grob Tutor light aircraft at RAF Cosford This is is a a a a a special aircraft with dual-controls designed for learning to fly It is also capable of of doing some acrobatic stunts Some of of our cadets experienced barrel rolls others opted for a a a more sedate flying lesson We were also lucky enough to geta full day of gliding at RAF Little Rissington This was a a fully immersive experience with cadets being responsible for for important preparation for for flight such as hooking up the the glider to the the winch winch Taking off via winch winch launch in in a a a a a a Viking T1 is one of of the fastest ground-to-air acceleration of of any aircraft in in the the RAF and our cadets certainly found the the experience exciting We also enjoyed a a a weekend of of field activities of of honing our field skills such as as Facey Painty Hidey Seeky (as we like to call it) and cooking of Rat Packs (no rats harmed) Finally some elite cadets were selected to represent Malvern College at the Regional Air Squadron Trophy competition on on on 20 November battling against 16 other schools in activities such as First Aid Leadership Aircraft Recognition Shooting and last but certainly not least a a a a a a complicated and gruelling drill routine Off O Cdt (Officer Cadet) Hannah Straw
