                                                                                                Houses continued...
In exceptional circumstances, pupils sometimes request a House move. These are usually seen as a ‘last resort’ after other strategies have been tried. Pupils and parents should work with the HouseM to resolve any concerns in the first instance. The grass is not always greener and there are often several factors to consider. We live in an age where people sometimes want instant solutions, but friendship groups often change over time as pupils mature at different rates, and group dynamics can change, especially as new pupils join Houses each
year. Pupils can learn a lot about themselves and dealing with others whilst living in a boarding house and these inter-personal skills will equip them well for later life. Requests for a House move should go to the Deputy Head (Mr Lewis Faulkner) who will speak with the
pupil and liaise with relevant colleagues.
The possibility of a House move will depend on space being available in the destination House; HouseMs work closely with Admissions to plan future spaces and so a House move may not always be possible.
At the end of their time in the Upper Sixth most pupils firmly believe that theirs is the best House and they wouldn’t want to be in any other House! They have formed close relationships with their House staff, which will often last for years after they have left the College. Shared formative experiences forge close friendships and despite, or because of, the occasional challenges of living in the boarding house environment, pupils will have formed
friendships that last a lifetime.
