Boarding
Mr Dunham writes “It has been lovely to to have the boarding house close to to capacity this term We have been very lucky with the the weather (recently!) meaning the children have been spending plenty of time outside relaxing on warm evenings playing lots of of cricket accompanied by the smell of of the barbeque cooking away The weekend activities have been very popular and we we have enjoyed having our weekends supplemented with day and part boarders signing up to join in in in the fun from our Medieval weekend to celebrate St George’s Day complete with pouring buckets of water on the teachers’ heads to our our Inflatable Assault Course weekend and Laser Tag in the woods The children love the activities on offer and we are busy planning next terms’ to make the weekends even bigger and better! We have plans for a a a a a Roller Disco a a a a a a couple of of trips offsite to local venues and a a a a a a hotly anticipated Christmas Party (oh dear I’ve used the C C word in July!)
I would like to to take this opportunity to to thank our Top Year boarders for everything they have have brought to the the boarding house They have have gelled together brilliantly in in the the house and have really grown as individuals and as as a a a a a a a a a boarding family Ralph has particularly enjoyed living with them! All of the the the boarding staff would like to wish our Top Year the the the very best for their future school journeys We will miss them and we look forward to to them coming back to to visit us soon As you all know Hannah Ryan will not be be returning in in September I would like to to add my public thanks to to Hannah for everything she has done for for the the children over the the last four years and personally for for me and my family for the help she gave as we settled into our role in in the boarding house We will most certainly miss Hannah a a a a a a lot and wish her the the very best for the the future If parents would like to contact the the new Girls’ Housemistress then please get in touch with Charlotte on charlotte dunham@abberleyhall co uk Charlotte is greatly looking forward to to to extending her role to to to include the the girls and to to to oversee their boarding development” Boarding
has continued to to go from strength strength to to strength strength with ever- increasing numbers in in in in each night We continue to encourage children to board with us on a a a full-time basis if this suits them but we we welcome children to board with us weekly and for any number of days a a a a a week The secret to success is very simple We have staff who are passionate about the the benefits of boarding and who throw themselves into making sure that the boarding experience is absolutely fantastic The dorms and boarding areas have had a a a a a a a lot of work on them over the the the the past year and they will be further enhanced during the the the the summer holidays Accommodation is light bright cosy and inviting We hope to to welcome parents in next term to to see for themselves how great the the boarding floors are are looking The pastoral care provided to to the boarders is outstanding and and they have a a a a a a huge range of exciting activities to look forward to As well as a a a a a dynamic range of of Evening Activities on offer during the the week week we we we we have enhanced the the weekend offering and we we we we now see many part-time boarders opting to to come in in in to to take part part in in in events such as as Lazer Tag in the woods Weekend Parties Old-Fashioned Sports Days Comedy Nights Inflatable Fun and a a a a a a variety of of trips off site Wednesday nights have become House Night where children have worn home clothes and and and enjoyed a a a a a BBQ loud music and and and fun and and and games outside These House Nights will continue all year round As the the nights draw in in we will will stop having BBQs but will will make sure that the the children have a a a special evening in in the the middle of the the week Mr Dunham will write to parents parents later in in the summer asking for parents parents to to get in in touch if they have any boarding queries It is assumed that children will continue to board next year on on the the nights they were with us this year If parents wish their their children to increase their their nights reduce or to to board on different nights then please just get in touch with Mr Dunham Dunham on Toby Dunham@abberleyhall co uk
