SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
Three years of science are required for graduation from Hudson, two of which must include one life science (Biology
Applications or Biology) credit and one physical science (Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, or Honors Physics) credit.
Many college bound students 9th Grade: 10th Grade: 11th Grade: 12th Grade:
acquire four science credits and Physical Science Biology Chemistry Chemistry
a few graduate with five or Biology Honors Biology Honors Chemistry Honors Chemistry
more science credits (enrolling Honors Biology Chemistry AP Biology AP Biology
in two science courses in one Honors Chemistry AP Chemistry AP Chemistry
year is permitted). It is strongly Physics Ecology Ecology
recommended that all college AP Biology AP Environmental AP Environmental
bound students take Biology, AP Physics 1 Science Science
Chemistry and Physics before Physics Anatomy/Physiology
graduation as many colleges AP Physics 1 Physics
require one life science and two AP Physics 2 * AP Physics 1
physical science credits for Anatomy/Physiology AP Physics 2*
admission. Most freshmen Survey of Organic AP Physics C
should strongly consider taking Organic – Reactions Survey of Organic
science in their first year. All Organic – Reactions
students are encouraged to / Mechanisms
balance their selections Forensic Science / Mechanisms
between life and physical Marine Biology Forensic Science
sciences. Marine Biology
* Upon Successful completion of AP Physics 1 or Physics
There are three starting points in Science. . . students may work through the map (following page) beginning in either
Physical Science or Biology. Students are not required to commit to this track; they may jump to the honors path. The
honors path is shown on the right side of the diagram . . . students may work through this map beginning in Honors
Biology. Students are not required to commit to this path; they may jump to the non-honors/AP path as well.
