Supervisor’s Message It’s be er to give than receive, always
Page 3
I’ve always thought that giving is the most rewarding gesture a person can do for another, and I want to thank all of you for your generosity over the holiday season. Clinton Township residents are very generous, and whether you donated a toy to a needy child or put your change in a red ke le, each small act of kindness adds up.
Just as each act of kindness contributes toward the greater good, your voices and opinions have helped the Township in the same way. Your role in the development of our Strategic Vision Plan has been helpful. Many of you par cipated by lling out the community survey, which allowed residents to share thoughts and ideas about the current state and future needs of Clinton Township. Your responses add up and play a signi cant role in how we move forward.
Once completed, our Strategic Vision Plan will serve as the community’s blueprint for change and ac on over the next three to ve years. It will act as a guide to help us coordinate projects, programs, and policies that may include infrastructure projects, land use ini a ves, image and brand projects, as well as economic development- related e orts. In short, when we budget our resources each year, the plan helps us to select which projects to priori ze. I will provide updates for you as we move ahead, and I look forward to sharing the results of our Strategic Vision Plan this spring.
If you missed out on contribu ng to the vision plan, there are many opportuni es to become involved with the Township in 2020. Perhaps make it part of your New Year’s resolu on—a commitment to par cipate in helping improve your community. For instance, joining one of our Township commi ees is a great way to give back. Go to the Township website to check out the openings we have available. Also, we expect to recruit
many volunteers this summer as
we welcome The Wall That Heals
exhibit back to Clinton Township
for the third me in 10 years. The
Wall That Heals features a three-
quarter scale replica of the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial in
Washington, D.C. The Wall is 375
feet in length and stands nearly
eight feet high at its tallest
point. Stay tuned to our television
and social media channels for more informa on as we plan to host The Wall from July 16-19.
With the coldest days of the winter ahead of us, please keep in mind that Clinton Township has a number of available warming shelters. Keep a lookout for family and friends—par cularly seniors who live alone. Check on them and make sure they have what they need in case of an emergency that might a ect their ability to survive the cold. Again, a small act of kindness today can lead to something as important as saving a life.
I wish you all the best in the coming year. It gives one pause for thought to realize we are on the doorstep of a new decade. Thanks to you and all those who choose to make Clinton Township their home, I see a bright future for us all.
