STAFF DRESS CODE
Uniform
Every staff person is expected to be in uniform at all times. The Recreation Department uniform consists of a staff shirt, department issued name tag, active tennis shoes and whistle. Anyone reporting for work without part of the uniform will be disciplined and sent home, without pay, to retrieve the missing item. This applies to set up and clean up days, special events, rentals, field trips, etc. Every hour, of every day you work, you are in uniform. Clerical staff and professional office staff are required to wear business attire similar to all other Township Office employees or a staff shirt and all rules of the CTPR dress code apply. Jeans may only be worn with a staff shirt.
Name Tag
The name tag and whistle are your responsibility. A lost or broken name tag must be reported to a supervisor so a new one can be ordered. Please turn in your broken name tag to receive a new one free of charge. If lost, notify your supervisor immediately. Not wearing your name tag will result in disciplinary action in accordance with the dress code policy.
Staff Shirts
• Must always be visible (unless covered by CTPR staff jackets) so that the public knows who to approach.
• Cannot be altered in any way – do not cut, mark up, or otherwise embellish, embroider, etc.
• Veteran staff are encouraged to wear shirts from past summers.
• Annual Day camp shirts cannot be worn from a year you did not work – you have to earn each shirt.
• You must purchase one day camp shirt from the current year.
Appropriate Dress
You’ll be very active each day, dress appropriately. All clothing worn to work must also be neat & clean, and appropriate.

Footwear
Sturdy shoes such as tennis shoes or boots are required.
Sandals, any open-toed shoe, Crocs, or high heels are not allowed with staff shirt uniform. Bare feet are not allowed. Jewelry
Expensive jewelry is discouraged due to the active/outdoor nature of the job.
• Stud earrings are the only type of earring allowed for both males and females. Dangling earrings, all hoops (even if flush with the ear), earrings that hang below lobe, nose rings, etc. or any earring that poses a safety hazard based on the physical nature of your job is prohibited.
Hats
Hats can be worn as long as info on the hat is appropriate for all. No smoking or alcohol companies allowed.
Tattoos
Because we are a public service operation, working with children, tattoos that are exposed when you are in uniform are subject to the following guidelines: visible tattoos cannot promote drugs, alcohol, tobacco, violence or be sexually suggestive or contain profanity. Tattoos found to be in violation of this dress code will need to be completely covered during the work day.
Staff Shirts After Hours
Staff shirts represent our department – even when you are not working. They should not be worn in conjunction with the use of alcohol, tobacco, or any illegal/unethical behavior either in person or via photograph, web, video, etc.

Shorts, pants, jeans and sweats are acceptable (use the fingertip rule)
Extremely short shorts, skirts, ripped/torn pants/shorts and/or pants/shorts rolled down or drooping past the natural waist line or any jeans, slacks, sweatpants etc. with words or pictures printed on the ‘seat’ area are not acceptable. Excessively sheer or see through yoga and or compression clothes are not permitted. Yoga/Spandex must be capri or pant length, no shorts, bike shorts, or anything above the knee.
Clothing that promotes alcohol, tobacco, drugs, violence, contains profanity or is sexually suggestive etc. is prohibited.
Personal sweatshirts, jackets, etc. may not be worn over your staff shirt.
A variety of apparel is available for purchase for those of you who may need one.
When your job requires a swim suit (i.e. field trip) the suit must be modest and appropriate for active wear (no ties).
All clothing must conceal undergarments. Must not be see through when stretched.
Active wear is permitted if the above guidelines are met.
Please keep in mind, we are working with children- dress appropriately.
