CODE OF ETHICS
All Clinton Township Recreation employees must:
• Adhere to the highest standards of integrity and honesty in all public and personal activities to inspire public confidence and trust.
• Strive for personal and professional excellence and encourage the development of co-workers, volunteers and participants.
• Strive for the highest standards of professional competence, fairness, impartiality, efficiency, effectiveness and fiscal responsibility.
• Avoid any interest or activity that is in conflict with the performance of job responsibilities.
• Promote the public interest and avoid personal gain or profit from the performance of job duties and
responsibilities.
• Support equal opportunity for participation in all programs.
Ethic Examples
• As a valued member of the Clinton Township Recreation staff you are expected to provide the very highest level of ethical and fair behavior.
• You are expected to act as a positive role model to all program participants.
• You will not swear, scream, discuss inappropriate behaviors or events (parties, smoking, drugs, drinking, etc.) while
on the job, around program participants or volunteers both on and off the job.
• You are expected to be an example of wholesome behavior.
• You cannot "borrow" money from participants for your lunch or a snack on a field trip - see a Supervisor or
Administrator.
• Only Schools or Non-Profit Organizations will be able to use township owned equipment (chairs, tables, tents, etc.).
You are paid for what you do and cannot accept money or gifts from participants or parents for the work that you are paid to do.
The only exceptions to this would be hand-made crafts, flowers, cards and homemade baked goods. If you are presented with a gift you cannot accept, please politely thank the person and show them this page. Accepting a gift for fulfilling your job responsibilities will have serious disciplinary ramifications which may include immediate dismissal.
If you unknowingly receive a gift card (i.e. sealed in a card) and cannot return it, you must turn it into the office to be used for program/contest giveaways, or enhancements.
If you have posts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other social media, it should be locked/set to private unless children 5 to 14 years old and their parents, would find this information to be consistent with expectations for a positive role model. If you are tagged in photos that can be found anywhere on social media, they should also be consistent with being a positive role model
