  WORKING WITH PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS
CALEA staff continues to serve on several committees that address best practices in public safety. Some of the relevant committees are:
CALEA supported the National Sheriff’s Association (NSA) Education and Training Committee by providing insight on training curriculums for new sheriffs, participating in award recipients selections, and reviewing resolutions on issues impacting the broader public safety community.
The International Association of Chiefs of Police Community Policing Committee. The primary purpose of this committee is to study community policing strategies and operations and disseminate best practices in community policing across the US and around the world.
The IACP Policy Center Advisory Group. This group meets throughout the year to discuss standards related topics. CALEA also serves on the IACP Policy and Standards Review Committee. The committee’s annual meeting was held during the IACP’s Conference in Orlando, FL. The committee discussions result in model policy examples for public safety organizations.
CALEA supported the United States Department of State – Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement in the delivery of training on specialized topics to Mexican public safety officials. This included administrative management of police functions and concepts relevant to internal affairs management.
In 2018 CALEA joined the ICMA Conference Review Committee. This new affiliation creates an opportunity to meet with ICMA regional presidents and staff liaisons in an effort to promote regional awareness of CALEA Accreditation.
FOUR-YEAR CYCLE TRANSITION
The process of transitioning all agencies to four-year accreditation cycles with annual assessments was completed in 2018, with a stronger focus on client support through ongoing standards application.
NEW WEBSITE
A new website was launched in December. The new site has improved navigation, and is the most utilized resource for latest news, and process information. CALEA Staff worked with an outside website development firm to design a more efficient site for CALEA clients, staff, and prospective clients.
CRM ADVANCEMENTS
During the last quarter, CALEA launched the development of a new client relationship management system, which will go-live in 2019. The new system is being developed with a focus on streamlining client services and accreditation process management.
CORPORATE WEBINARS
Webinars were conducted quarterly to introduce and train on certain concepts. On average, 300-500 registered for each webinar, 150 attended with several reviewing the recorded version. Each session was recorded for future resources located on the website.
REGIONAL ADVISORY BOARD MEETINGS
