Elaborate:

     • Activity: The teacher asks students to
       design a fictional organism that adapts to
       a specific environment (such as a desert or
       rainforest) using art materials.

            • Draw the organism and explain the
               adaptations they have included and
               how these will help it survive.
            • Display the artwork in class and
               discuss ideas with peers.

     • Activity: Administer a short quiz
       containing multiple-choice questions
       about the adaptations discussed. Peer
       assessment can also be used through
       presentations of the artwork and
       explanations of adaptations.

     • Questions:
            • What does the term "adaptation"
               mean?
            • Give an example of a behavioral
               adaptation and an organism that
               possesses it.
