John Roberts
John Roberts played a critical role in the development of the IC1000™ pad, which is still the dominant
CMP pad today. He discovered a polymeric micro-sphere to replace a glass micro-sphere from
previous product iterations, resulting in a 300% reduction in scratch defects. Roberts retired from
Dow/Rohm and Haas/Rodel.
George McClain
Harry (George) McClain was instrumental in the discovery of a polymeric micro-sphere
replacement of glass micro-spheres within the CMP pad improving yield and economic viability.
This discovery was the genesis for the IC1000™ pad, which is still the dominant CMP pad today.
McClain recently retired from DuPont.
Bill Budinger
William (Bill) Budinger was critical to the development of the IC1000™ CMP pad family.
Now retired, Budinger was one of the founders of Rodel, which was acquired by Rohm and Haas,
became part of Dow, and is now the basis of the CMP business at DuPont.
