Ernest, a U.S. Marine veteran, has participated in groups
where he works on substance use issues alongside fellow
military veterans. He has also participated in work programs

and learned creative ways to reduce stress and anxiety.
While it may not be remarkable that Ernest found help, it
is remarkable that he found it at a jail. Ernest was 1 of the 33

veterans assigned to the Veterans’ Tier at the Cook County Jail.
