Moss Wall

Natura was selected by an international home
furnishings retailer needing to make the return-
to-work more alluring at its North American
headquarters. The central 3-story atrium lobby
was identified as an ideal location for a high-
impact biophilic element to welcome their people
back. A 45’ tall by 8’ wide preserved moss wall was
determined to be the most attractive solution.

After several rounds of design conversations,
a natural pattern with mixed pole moss, fern
moss and dark sheet moss was selected. The 360
square foot display was laid out with the design
hand sketched onto backer boards. 24 panels
measuring 2’-8” x 5’-8” were cut, numbered, and
individually fabricated. Upon completion, each
panel was wrapped, boxed, and shipped to the
headquarters location.

The design fabricator loaded supplies and flew to
the site with a local company selected to assist on
the installation. With the use of a 45’ scissor lift,
and challenging maneuvering around hanging
light fixtures, the installation was completed in a
day and a half. The client was ecstatically pleased
with the outcome. From the client – “Biophilic
design and the wellbeing of our coworkers
were important elements when designing the
new collaborative workspace. We wanted the
coworkers to feel comfortable and invited back
to the office the moment they entered the space.
The incredible 45-foot moss wall is a wow factor
and brings nature into the entire office spanning
all three floors. The coworkers have been excited
with the redesign and the ability to connect with
one another again.”
