Fencing Team
By Cheung Ngo Chun
This was the first time I represented PolyU as an athlete. It felt amazing to be one of the members
in this big family and competed for glories and medals. Our team had done a great job this year. It
was not about how many medals we got, but looking after each other, training as hard as we could,
and strived for our very best. These were all more memorable moments than getting a medal.
During the USFHK Fencing Competition, we did encounter harsh moments, especially when our
morale were sinking as we were few points behind our opponents. Facing these tough situations,
we learned to stay calm and to tune our emotions to the best condition. Actually, all we needed to
do is to try our best in every moment, and to enjoy the game. We finally made a huge comeback
and captured Women’s Champion and Men’s 2nd Runner-up.
I would like to thank everyone who have supported us during competition. We hope that our team
will continue to improve and strive for better results next year.
