There is a quiz at school today. Udit and Anchal are eager to reach their classroom.
They want to perform well in the quiz as they have studied diligently. It rained
last night so their shoes are dirty. In the rush to reach the classroom, they forget to
wipe their shoes on the doormat outside the school building.
Udit: I am so excited about the quiz. I enjoy it so much.
Anchal: I like them too. I am prepared for the quiz today.
They pass through the junior wing corridor, lost in their conversation. The cleaner is
mopping the wet floor when Udit and Anchal leave muddy footsteps in the corridor.
The cleaner looks at them with an expression of irritation. But Udit and Anchal are
too busy to notice it.
Cleaner: Listen children! At least wipe your shoes on the doormat at the entry.
Udit: (with a sense of urgency) Oh! We are in a hurry.
Anchal: We have a quiz today. We will take care of it next time.
Cleaner: (thinking) When will children learn to wipe their shoes so that my
hard work doesn’t go down the drain?
