3 ant: (making a face) Why have you come here then? You should have stayed
                  rd
                              in your city.

Tibby: (in an irritated tone) I am on a vacation. I just wanted to travel and

                              visit a new place.

1 ant: (gently) You can join us in collecting food if you are hungry. We are
                  st
                              stocking up food for winter.

Tibby: No, thank you. I am carrying my own piece of bread. I will eat it.

2 ant: Don’t you need food for winter?
                  nd
Tibby: (with anger) I will manage. I am not used to working in a team like this.

I will manage on my own.

3 ant: But ants are supposed to work in a group. It is not possible for one ant
                  rd
to collect so much food to survive through the winter. That is why we
                              work in a team.

Tibby: Huh! I am a city ant. I am smarter than all of you. I don’t need you.

                The other ants walked away.

As the days passed by, the mornings and evenings started getting colder in the
jungle. The winters were approaching but Tibby was not worried.

Tibby: (to himself) I don’t want to work with those ants in the jungle. I can
collect my own food. They don’t realise that I am a city ant. I am

                              smarter than them.

The winters arrived. Snow started falling. Tibby started suffering from both hunger
and cold. He could not collect food on his own. He was able to carry only two

berries to his house which he ate up even before the winters. He was shivering from
cold. When he couldn’t take it anymore, he dragged himself towards the anthill
                nearby and knocked the door.

                Two ants came out.

1 ant: Tibby! What are you doing here?
                  st
Tibby: It is too cold and I am hungry.

2 ant: (with pride) But you said you can manage on your own.
                  nd
Tibby: That was my mistake. I realised later that I couldn’t collect food alone.
