                                Theme 1: All About Me

             Nursery
             • Show your family photograph to your child. Ask him/her to identify themselves
               in the picture.
             • Tell them about the concept of ‘boy’ and ‘girl’ using dolls.
             • Motivate them to talk about themselves saying, ‘My name is ……………….. . I am
               a boy/girl.’
             • Talk to your child about their favourite things, such as food items, toys, etc. Ask
them why they like these things.
             • Show your child a chart depicting different body parts. Point at each body part
               and say its name.
             • Ask them simple questions, like ‘How many eyes do you have?’, ‘How many ears
do you have?’ and ‘How many fingers do you have?’
             • Using teddy bears (of different sizes), tell your child about sense organs and
how they help us. You could use these teddy bears for introducing the concept
of ‘big’ and ‘small’ as well.
             • Talk to your child about good and bad behaviour. Show them pictures of a few
actions depicting good and bad behaviour.
             • Talk to them about good behaviour and being helpful. Tell them that one should
be kind not only towards their friends and family, but towards animals as well.
             • Show emoji pillows to your child to familiarise them with a smiling and a sad
face. Make them aware of some basic moods that they might feel in a day, such
               as happy and sad.
             • Encourage them to talk to you about their mood at the moment. This will help
them talk freely about their feelings with you.
             • Familiarise them with a few polite words and greetings. Role-play different
situations to elicit responses involving polite words.
             • Make the child practise lines and curves using crayons, or by tracing on sand.
             • Recite poems or narrate bedtime stories to introduce your child to the world
of reading. Children love stories, and they usually want to listen to the same
set of stories over and over again. This is because familiar stories provide them
pleasure and a sense of security, for they already know the plot and the sequence
               of events.
             • Using the objects available in the house, reinforce pre-numeracy concepts like
‘long’ and ‘short’, ‘big’ and ‘small’, and ‘same’ and ‘different’.
