Sincere Appreciation - FoC Board Members
Tammy Campbell, Bill Seiler, Father Phil Ackerman
We don’t often talk about the role and contributions of Friends of Chimbote Board Members. With Bill Seiler, Fr. Phil Ackerman
and Tammy Campbell, three long-serving board members, completing their terms in the past year, it is a perfect time to
recognize and celebrate their crucial, sacrificial service.
First and foremost, our board members serve with their hearts and faith. As a faith-based Mission dedicated to relieving the
suffering of poverty and lifting our brothers and sisters out of poverty through empowerment and transformation, their hearts
are deeply engaged. They personally witness the dire nature of third-world poverty by being on the ground in Chimbote and in
the homes of our beneficiaries, listening, learning and serving. Bill, Tammy and Fr. Phil have been on the ground in Chimbote
43 times including leading 10 groups. All of these trips were at their own expense in addition to the cost of the projects they
completed on their trips.
These first-hand experiences form the foundation and guide them in their board service the rest of the year. Over their 30
combined years as board members, they volunteered at and hosted events, did presentations, shared our story with thousands,
completed strategic planning, formed policy, responded to tragedies like the pandemic and cyclones, prayed, led us through
the transition of our founders, recruited new members and constantly secured resources and gave sacrificially for our team
and programs in Chimbote. All as volunteers with hearts fully engaged and at risk.
The participation and performance of our board members, along with our volunteers and donors, makes it possible for Friends
of Chimbote to complete millions of dollars of impact annually through our 85 member ACAF team in Chimbote, with only
a full-time equivalent staff of 3 at Friends of Chimbote. We are deeply grateful to Tammy, Bill, Fr. Phil and all of our board
members for their unparalleled service and genuine love and friendship.
