Fishing Tips for August/September/October
Captain Leon Dana's Fishing Forecast
Summer time fishing patterns are here both inshore and near the beach . Water
temperature has and will maintain in the middle 80s and the bait both Mullet and Pogys
have arrived. Trout, Reds and Flounder all inshore are feeding well on “fingerling “ size
Mullet. I like using a popncork with a 3/0 circle hook. I prefer the circle hook as it’s
much better at not being caught in the grass and oyster beds. On the beach the Mullet
and Pogys are all schooled up just outside the surf breakers. There you will find tarpon,
jacks, sharks and more all feeding on them. You can use a cast net to catch bait both
inshore and on the beach. If you fish the beach remember, use tackle large enough to
fight what your hunting or the battle will over quick!!! Good luck and I’ll see you on the
water.
