The Definitive Media Library (DML) is the secure library for storing master authorized copies of all controlled software media CIs. All master

copies will have passed defined quality checks. This library may consist of one or more software libraries or file-storage areas, separate from development, test or live file-store areas. The DML should include definitive copies of purchased software (along with license documents or information), as well as software developed on site. What is not in the DML is anything that is transitory. Backups or intermediate documentation would not be stored here.
Access to the items in the DML is controlled by the configuration librarian, but determination as to what will be put into the DML is controlled by Release Management. This controlled master copy library provides a foundation for Release and Deployment to be able to perform well.
