Change Management Process
Change Management is a CONTROL Process.
Change management is responsible for ensuring that all changes affecting IT services or infrastructure follow the change process that has been put in place. They look to enable beneficial changes with minimal disruption, but to slow down those changes that could be disruptive or pose a risk to the infrastructure environment or the delivery of services.
Changes are part of the normal activity required to ensure that IT is able to respond to “ever-changing” business requirements. Change could also be in response to technology changes, vendor requirements changes, disruptions, user demand, newly discovered risks, etc. Managing change so that we understand the risk that the change represents allows IT to minimize that risk and bring it down to an acceptable level. This also increases the chance of success. Changes that pose little or no risk are to be allowed to continue with minimal disruption.
